How we calculate Cypriot net pay
The calculator applies the consolidated texts of the Income Tax Law, the General Healthcare System Law and the Social Insurance Law, with the Contributions Regulations and the decrees on basic insurable earnings — see data sources.
Social insurance
Employee and employer each pay 8.8% of earnings up to the maximum insurable earnings. The weekly ceiling is six times the basic insurable earnings and the monthly ceiling 13/3 of the weekly one, in whole euros: €1,325 a week and €5,742 a month in 2026 (€1,281 and €5,551 in 2025). The law allows up to 8.9% from 2024; the 8.8% rate set by the actuarial study applies. A 13th salary is spread over the months of the year so that the total stays within the monthly ceiling.
GHS
The General Healthcare System contribution is 2.65% for the employee and 2.90% for the employer, on earnings up to €180,000 a year.
Income tax
Tax is worked out for the whole year. Social insurance and GHS contributions (article 9, up to one fifth of taxable income) and article 14B deductions come off annual pay. The 2026 scale is 0% up to €22,000, 20% up to €32,000, 25% up to €42,000, 30% up to €72,000 and 35% above; in 2025 the limits were €19,500, €28,000, €36,300 and €60,000. Your employer spreads the annual tax evenly over the salary payments.
Article 14B deductions
From 2026 each parent deducts €1,000 for the first, €1,250 for the second and €1,500 for each further dependent child; single-parent families get double. Spouses, civil partners and people living alone deduct rent or mortgage interest on their main home up to €2,000, and spending on energy upgrades, renewables or an electric car up to €1,000. The deductions apply when family income is no more than €40,000 for someone living alone, €100,000 with no children or up to two, €150,000 with three or four and €200,000 with five or more, and the tax return is filed on time.
Employer cost
Employer cost counts the employer's social insurance (8.8%, with the same ceiling) and the employer's GHS contribution (2.90%).
