How we calculate North Macedonian net pay
The calculator applies the Personal Income Tax Act and the Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions Act, with the Public Revenue Office notices on rates, bases and the tax reduction — see data sources.
Contributions
Out of gross pay the employee pays 18.8% for pension and disability insurance, 7.5% for health insurance, an additional 0.5% for work injury and 1.2% for unemployment insurance — 28% in all. From the July to the December 2026 salary the rates are 19.9%, 7.5%, 0.5% and 0.1%, with the same total. The base can be no lower than 50% and no higher than sixteen average wages: MKD 34,570 and MKD 1,106,256 in 2026, MKD 31,577 and MKD 1,010,464 in 2025.
Personal income tax
Tax is 10% of gross pay less contributions and the monthly tax reduction: MKD 10,270 in 2025 and MKD 10,932 in 2026. The reduction is applied when the salary is paid.
Employer cost
Contributions are charged on gross pay and borne by the employee, so gross pay is also the employer's total cost.
