How we calculate Monaco net pay
The calculator follows the payslip of a full-time employee of a business employer, month by month, because the CCSS, CAR and CMRC ceilings change on 1 October and the unemployment ceiling on 1 January. Sources: the rates and ceilings published by the Caisses Sociales de Monaco for each period — see data sources.
No tax on pay
Monaco levies no personal income tax and employers withhold none, so net pay is gross pay minus employee contributions. French nationals living in Monaco and employees who live in France report their salary in France; Italian residents in Italy. That tax is not calculated here.
State pension (CAR)
The Caisse Autonome des Retraites takes 6.85% of the employee's pay, up to €6,112 a month until September 2026 and €6,276 from October. The employer pays 8.33%, then 8.39% (base, adjustment and variable rates).
Supplementary pension (CMRC)
Since 1 January 2024 the Caisse Monégasque de Retraite Complémentaire has replaced Agirc-Arrco. Band A up to the ceiling (€3,971, then €4,067 from October 2026): 10.02%, of which 2.15% earns no pension rights; band B up to eight ceilings: 24.29%, of which 2.70%. Employees pay 40% (4.008% and 9.716%), employers 60%.
Unemployment insurance
Monaco is part of the French scheme: 2.40% for the employee and 4.00% for the employer (4.05% until April 2025), up to four French social security ceilings (€16,020 a month in 2026).
Annual ceilings and the 13th month
The funds cap pay over the year: the annual ceiling is the sum of the monthly ceilings for the months worked, trued up at the end of the year. We apply it cumulatively month by month, so a 13th month paid in December uses any unused ceiling. For a steady salary without a 13th month the result equals the monthly ceiling.
Employer cost
Only the employer pays CCSS (sickness, maternity, invalidity, death, family benefits and occupational health): 13.40% up to €9,800, then €10,000 from October 2026, or 13.45% if affiliated to the wage guarantee fund (CGCS). Its CAR, CMRC and unemployment shares come on top.
