United Kingdom: employer cost
Enter what a job may cost over a year. The calculator takes off the contributions the employer pays on top of salary and shows gross and net pay. A budget of £50,000.00 a year buys £43,167.12 gross and £33,123.33 net (England, paid monthly, auto-enrolment pension (5% employee, 3% employer, on qualifying earnings), no student loan).

How it works
Total cost is gross salary plus the contributions the employer pays on top. For a budget, the calculator finds the gross pay at which salary and employer contributions use up exactly that amount, and works out the net pay from there. Here the employer's share is Class 1 National Insurance at 15% on pay above £5,000 a year and the employer's pension contribution. The Employment Allowance, which reduces the NI bill of many smaller employers, and the Apprenticeship Levy paid by the largest ones are not included.
